College of Golf NCCGA Team Finishes 5th in National Championship

Keiser University’s College of Golf National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) team recently traveled to Thackerville, Oklahoma, to compete in the NCCGA National Championship held at the Winstar Resort Golf Course.

The Seahawks were among 25 National Qualifiers from an original field of over 200 teams who earned an invitation to the National Championship. This year, the Seahawks broke through with a 5th place finish, only the second time they have cracked the Top 10. The 36-hole event was reduced to 18-hole due to inclement weather.

Coach Frank Longabucco stated, “I’m very proud of our team. They played well and kept their heads in the game on a very difficult golf course. This is only our second Top 10 finish and another step in the right direction. It was a great learning experience, and the team should be commended on a great finish.”

Individually, Jared Drake led the Seahawks with a score of 71, finishing Tied 5th, and Kyle Nieter followed up with a strong performance, shooting 72 and finishing Tied 9th. For complete results, visit www.nccga.org. Congratulations, Seahawks!
