After receiving severe criticism about the recent U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, the USGA seems to have recovered with the 2018 Inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship.

Just think, Nancy Lopez announcing on the first tee, Suzi Whaley (future president of the PGA of America) competing with her idols, and Joanne “Big Mama” Carner shooting her age with a round of 79 – does it get much better? Well, for us here at The College of Golf, it is listening to our esteemed colleague and fellow faculty member and 1982 U.S. Women’s Open runner-up Donna White tell stories about playing against the greats of the game, while we catch glimpses of them on the internet during the first round.

Put all this together with a world-class par-73 classic Chicago Golf Club layout, and Shinnecock Hills seems like a long time ago. We are all looking forward to an exciting weekend, and I’m sure the finish on Sunday will be unforgettable!
