Keiser University’s College of Golf
Welcomes Merritt Island High School Boys’ Team
Keiser University’s College of Golf recently welcomed the Merritt Island High School Boy’s Golf Team for a preseason-training clinic.
John Callahan, a PGA Professional and Golf Magazine Top 100 Adjunct Teacher, introduced the first lesson of proper grip, aim, and setup, with emphasis on the importance of preparing for each full swing. Brian Hughes and David Wixson, PGA Master Professionals and Frank Longabucco, a PGA Professional Certified in Instruction, then joined Callahan in conducting live swing evaluations for each of the players using V-1 Computer video analysis and Trackman/Foresight launch monitor equipment.
The visitors took notes throughout the sessions and also enjoyed learning about unique “putting games” they could use in both individual and team training sessions.
This is the ninth consecutive year that Coach Art Friedman has brought the Merritt Island team to a Keiser University College of Golf clinic. The sessions are part of a continuing effort to provide training to local high school golf teams using the Keiser University College of Golf Indoor and Outdoor Training Facilities at the Keiser University Flagship Campus.
Keiser University College of Golf Students Achieve Impact Zone Certification
Keiser University College of Golf students Hong Seok Im, Brad Ropke, and Aaron Paulk recently earned Impact Zone Golf Player Certification.
The group attended two Impact Zone Golf clinics at the Keiser University College of Golf Outdoor Training Facility and then scored above 90% on the exam, thanks to John Callahan an Impact Zone Golf Certified Instructor and KUCOG Professor.
Impact Zone Certification is unique to Keiser University’s College of Golf and was developed through close coordination with PGA Champion Tour Player and television personality Bobby Clampett, along with College of Golf Executive Director of Golf Operations, PGA Legacy Master Professional and Impact Zone Golf Master Instructor Dr. Eric Wilson.
Having established the Impact Zone Training System and authored The Impact Zone, Clampett challenges the widely accepted theory of golf instruction that is too concerned with a golfer’s swing style, while overlooking its results and effectiveness. “Impact-Based” instruction puts the emphasis where it should be,” Clampett professes, “on consistently good shots and lower scores.”
