What to Look Forward to in Golf in 2019? [Infographic]

The 2019 PGA and LPGA seasons will look much different than those that came previously.

The new year will see the PGA with two fewer events, an adjusted tournament schedule, and the tour ending in August rather than September.

On the LPGA side, the women’s game will see new events and a lot more prize money.

So, what can fans look forward to in golf in 2019?

New schedule

The PGA Championship has been moved from August to May, and will now be the second major of the season instead of the fourth.

Shortened season

The season will feature 46 events, two fewer than in 2018. In addition, the PGA Tour season will end one month earlier.

This will prevent PGA televised events from competing against NCAA and NFL football.

LPGA increases prize money

The LPGA will payout $70 million in prize money. It is $5 million more than last year and the most in the golf circuit’s history.

Women’s game increases the number of tournaments

While the PGA Tour sees two fewer events, the LPGA’s tournament count has increased. The women’s game now has 33 events, four more than last year.
