Scott 'Links' Golf, Jobs

Gov. Rick Scott is in Jacksonville today promoting the state’s golf industry as the Players Championship tournament starts in Ponte Vedra Beach. Scott, in a morning interview on Jacksonville’s CBS 47/Fox 30 news, said the event is a huge boost for northeast Florida. “We get everybody coming in, once people see Jacksonville they want to move here,” Scott said. Golf is a big deal for the state. Scott said Florida has 1,200 golf courses and 58 million rounds of golf are played in the state each year. “Five million people come to Florida just for golf,” Scott said. “It’s big business,” a spokesman says. Scott has been a golfer in the past, but hasn’t been able to find the time since becoming governor.
