Ken Martin Finishes 2nd in PGA Senior Section Championship

Ken Martin, PGA Professional Certified in Instruction and General Management, and faculty member at Keiser University College of Golf, fired rounds of 68-71 = 139 (5 under par) to finish 2nd out of 78 competitors in the South Florida PGA Senior Section Championship August 5th and 6th on the Rees Jones Golf Club at the Breakers Resort. Ken led after the first day with a 4-under par 68 and backed it up with a solid 1-under par 71. However, former touring professional Lee Rinker stormed back from an opening round even-par 72 with an 8-under par 64 to clip Ken by three strokes. The Senior Section Championship was also a qualifier for the PGA Senior Professional National Championship, which will be held at Creighton Farms Golf Club in Virginia in October. The venue should be a comfortable fit for Ken, as he shot a competitive course record of 6-under par 66 enroute to a 2nd place finish in the National Event in 2011. Ken competes in the Florida Senior Open this weekend in Orlando at Interlachen Golf Club and Shingle Creek Golf Club. The staff and students at The College of Golf & Sport Management wish Ken the best for the remainder of his competitive 2013 season.
