High School Golf Team visits Keiser University College of Golf

Nine members of the John Carroll High School Varsity Golf Team visited The College of Golf at Keiser University this past Friday for an afternoon of fun and training. The young team, comprising mainly of freshmen and sophomores is led by Coach John Raines who has built a very successful program.

The team worked on various aspects of the game, under the guidance of College of Golf staff members. Dr. Brent Cook led off the session by helping the students warm up properly and stressing the importance of fitness with regards to improving their golf games.

PGA Professional John Callahan worked with each member of the team individually on their golf swings, using Keiser’s V-1 Video instruction software. Mr. Callahan stressed pre-swing principles of proper grip, aim and set-up along with rituals to ensure they are correct when playing.

PGA Professionals Brian Hughes and Frank Longabucco stressed putting and chipping fundamentals, with use of the TaylorMade M.A.T.T. system to analyze the players putting strokes.

The team is led by Coach John Raines, who promises to have the boys ready to take their training and win their conference title this coming golf season.
