College of Golf Student Achieves The First Tee Advanced Level One Certification

Thomas Magnant, Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management student, attended Advanced Level One Coaches training for The First Tee program last week. The intensive training, hosted by Mr. Dedric Holmes, MBA, Senior Director, Coach Training & Delivery for The First Tee National Office, was conducted over three days at The PGA Museum of Golf and Center for Golf Learning and Performance. The curriculum consisted of an overview of The First Tee Program, how the program works at the local level, local facilities hosting The First Tee Program, how to teach The Life Skills Program in conjunction with golf instruction, description and requirements of PLAYer/Par/Birdie/Eagle levels, and how to positively impact young golfers’ lives with the Nine Core Values. The session concluded with trainees breaking into groups, developing lesson plans, then delivering those lesson plans to a group of First Tee golfers on the range. Thomas was very positive in his description of the experience, and he plans to incorporate his First Tee training into his career goals in the golf industry. Congratulations to Thomas for gaining his First Tee Advanced Level One Coaches Training Certification!
