College of Golf Awards Wounded Warrior Scholarship to Corporal Timmy King Jr

Mr. Timmy Lynn King, Jr. is a 2003 graduate of Ashford High School in Ashford, Alabama and most recently attended George C. Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama (Spring 2012 semester) where he was working on general studies toward his Associates Degree. Mr. King served in the United States Marine Corp from January 2004 through May 2008 and was honorably discharged. During his service, Corporal King was deployed once in Afghanistan and twice in Iraq where he served as a Squad Leader of 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. During his service he was awarded a United States Marine Corp Certificate of Commendation and a Department of the Navy, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Mr. King was introduced to Golf at age 4 by his father who often played with him and eventually led to him playing in several youth tournaments. His goals are to become a golf instructor and work with young people as he did as a baseball fielding and hitting instructor for young people ages 5 to 17. He would ultimately like to become a golf course manager where he would use the opportunity to give back to the community by developing programs to recruit and instruct young people who would not otherwise have a chance to play.

Mr. King was introduced to the Keiser University College of Golf through his Alumni membership with the Wounded Warriors Project and completed his application for scholarship. He also completed a personal interview with Mr. John McMurry, Vice President of the College of Golf and Dr. Eric Wilson, Executive Director for the College of Golf. Mr. King was awarded a 100% scholarship for the College of Golf for the term beginning June 25, 2012.

Mr. King was presented with his scholarship and certificate documents at the College of Golf on Friday June 29th. Congratulations to Mr. King, we look forward to having you as a student at the College of Golf.
