A Quail Hollow Weekend

As The U.S. Open Championship gets closer and closer, we start to see the contenders rounding their games into shape in various tournaments, The Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow being one of them. Four of the last six champions at Quail Hollow have won U.S. Opens (Glover, McIlroy, Woods, and Furyk).

The field is strong overall: eleven winners on the 2012 PGA Tour, eight past winners of The Wells Fargo Championship, and nineteen major championship winners are among the field.

The Quail Hollow venue is a favorite of the players, playing to 7442 yards, par 72, and a course rating of 74.9/slope of 139, it offers plenty of challenge. The winning scores over the last six years have been between 11-under in 2009 and 16-under in 2010 when Rory McIlroy closed with a 10-under par round of 62. So, look for some fireworks on the weekend, as Mickelson has never won here, and Tiger claims to have found his swing again since his poor showing at Augusta.

After this week, there are five events left prior to The U.S. Open, and one of them is The Players Championship next week at TPC Sawgrass, another great event at a great golf course. So fans get ready, the 2012 season is shaping up to be one of the hottest in recent years, especially after the excitement with Bubba winning The Masters the way he did!
