Out on Tour
Of course, the first golf career that comes to most people’s minds is that of a professional golfer, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. A professional golfer goes on tour and makes money by playing well in tournaments. These lucky individuals actually make money playing the game. These golf professionals get to be around their favorite game all day, seeing to the needs of their customers and members. Club professionals’ primary duties include organizing tee-times, setting up competitions, overseeing course maintenance, working with the junior golfers, and coaching aspiring players.
Teaching the Game of Golf
Some people make great teachers. A golf instructor stays busy teaching golf to the droves of people needing instruction. Golf enthusiasts are always trying to improve their game, and most golf courses keep several golf instructors available for their visitors and members. You will meet a multitude of people with all different types of skill levels. Have a green thumb? A golf career that is of utmost importance is that of a superintendent. The superintendent, or turf manager, oversees the grounds and makes sure the course is in tip-top shape. This job can involve working with irrigation, chemicals, and making sure all landscaping needs come together in perfect harmony. This position will require some training and education but is extremely rewarding. You may want to do some research to find out what educational requirements are necessary for this position you need to take for a golf career in this field.
